Code of Ethics, Negligence Statement, and Plagiarism Detection Policy

PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE STATEMENT

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología is committed to maintaining high ethical standards and takes all possible measures against any professional negligence that is carried out in its publication.

In the event of a conflict, complaint or disagreement on the part of the author regarding the final result of the evaluation process, it will be the function of the members of the Editorial Committee to attend to and resolve the case with the support of the Scientific Advisory Council.

ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY

In Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología plagiarism is strictly prohibited. In the first place, authors attest that their articles have not been copied or plagiarized, totally or partially, from other publications by means of a communication sent at the time of applying for their work to this journal, declaring that it is original research.

Second, the Director, members of the Editorial Committee and reviewers use web searches using free access tools and anti-plagiarism software to consult similar works, analyze and corroborate the originality of the works received, to determine if the manuscript meets the criteria. of originality that the journal considers necessary.

Reviewers are requested, in the instructions of the evaluation form for their appreciation of the original and unpublished character of the manuscript, to apply at least one anti-plagiarism tool, it may be of their preference or availability, or of those listed below , which are online on the web:

If evidence is found that compromises the originality of the work, the authors are first notified; if a satisfactory response is not received that proves the contrary, the work will be rejected or withdrawn from publication. This can happen at any stage of the manuscript review process, even if the manuscript has already been published. In this case, a retraction note will be published.

 

CODE OF ETHICS

The Journal of Scientific Research Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología (PCYT) declares the following aspects related to good ethical practices applied in this journal.

  1. General obligations and responsibilities of the Publisher. The Editor is the person who responds, when necessary, on everything related to: articles published in the journal and their quality; decisions in the editorial process, maintenance of records associated with the articles, authors and evaluators; confidentiality of individual data, continuous improvement of the journal; response to needs, criticism, complaints and suggestions from readers, authors and evaluators. In addition, he will act in defense of freedom of expression.
  2. Relations with the authors. The Editor will accept or reject an article according to its relevance with respect to the thematic coverage of the journal, originality, its unpublished condition and adherence to publication regulations. The Editor will only retract a decision made, when there are arguments that warrant it.
  3. Intellectual property. The PCYT journal is free and open access. For the partial or total reproduction of the published works or contents, it is required to recognize the intellectual rights of the authors and also to make reference to this journal. Intellectual property always belongs to the author of the article, under a Creative Creative Commons (BY-NC-SA) license (Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike).
  4. Peer validation process. The Editor will protect the identity of the evaluators and establish what is expected of them; In addition, it will ensure that the review process is confidential, fair, impartial and adjusted to the disposition of the evaluators. Each work will be evaluated by at least two (2) pairs specialists in the area, under the double-blind modality; If any of the evaluators identifies conflicts of interest, they must state it so as not to be taken into account. The Editor will resolve conflicts of interest within a peremptory period.
  5. Quality assurance. The Editor will ensure that all published articles are of quality, paying special attention to detecting plagiarism.
  6. Promotion of academic integrity. The Editor undertakes to promote honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility in the editorial process of the journal.
  7. Relationship with journal editors. The Editor will promote the academic relationship with editors of other journals.
  8. Relations with the editorial team. The Editor will establish guidelines regarding the responsibilities of the editorial committee, maintaining continuous communication with its members.
  9. Claims, complaints or reports against publishers. The Editor will respond as soon as possible to any complaint generated in the editorial process. The communication will be made by email in a confidential manner. If the situation cannot be resolved, it will be attended decided by the full Editorial Committee.
  10. Monitoring of bad practices. The Publisher undertakes to maintain high ethical standards and to take all possible measures against any professional negligence carried out in its publication. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. The authors explicitly declare, through a communication addressed to the journal, that their works are original and unpublished, and furthermore, that they have not been submitted for consideration by other journals or that they have not been copied or plagiarized, totally or partially, from other publications.
  11. Integrity and academic rigor. Errors, inaccuracies and ambiguous situations will be corrected within a peremptory period. The articles will be preserved in digital repositories of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado.
  12. Relationship with readers. When the situation warrants it, the Editor will inform about the source or sources of financing of the published research and their role in said research. Likewise, the author(s) must express it explicitly.
  13. Promotion of the debate. When the situation warrants it, the Editor will disclose criticism of any work published in the journal, allowing the authors to express their arguments. This through letters from the authors addressed to the Editor.

The editors of Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología are committed to the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Be responsible and ethical in the approval of the works to be published.
  • Make constant improvements to the editorial and scientific quality of the journal, according to the criteria of recognized scientific entities.
  • Be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and errata when necessary.
  • Ensure the integrity of the history of the publication and the published academic document.
  • Maintain respectful and diligent communication with the authors, reviewers and the reading community.

Regarding the readers:

  • Keep published editorial information updated, and offer communication mechanisms with the journal.

Regarding the authors:

  • Offer diligent, objective and impartial attention in article evaluations.
  • Guarantee that the materials sent to the journal preserve their confidentiality throughout the review process.
  • Promote ethical research and publication. Regarding the reviewers:
  • Provide the reviewers with indications about the evaluation.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the evaluation process and the identities of the reviewers.

Regarding the members of the editorial committee:

  • Provide the new members of the Editorial Committee with the guidelines and rules about what is expected of them and keep them informed about the new policies and rules of the journal.
  • Identify them appropriately in the published editorial information of the journal.

In case of misconduct detection identification:

  • Publishers have an obligation to act and be open to investigation if they suspect misconduct or if they receive a report of misconduct. This obligation extends to both published and unpublished documents.
  • The editors will first proceed to obtain a response from the authors.
  • Support authors whose copyrights have been violated or who have been victims of plagiarism.
  • Respond quickly to the claims presented.
  • Timely publish editorials, errata notes and retractions in response to cases of claims, omissions, errors and misconduct verified in published or unpublished documents.
  • Act in accordance with recognized international regulations and good practices.
