Author Guidelines

   NORMS OF PRESENTATION OF WORK
    TO PUBLISH IN THE JOURNAL
     ÁGORA DE HETERODOXIAS

General aspects

The journal Ágora de Heterodoxias is an open-access digital scientific journal founded in 2015. Since 2018, it has become an international interdisciplinary digital publication of the Social Sciences. It is peer-reviewed and indexed, organizationally affiliated with the Scientific, Humanistic, and Technological Development Council of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado (UCLA), and is a publication of the UCLA Dean of Economics and Business Administration. It is published in Spanish, English and Portuguese. e-ISSN 2443-4361.

The journal uses the Open Journal System to guarantee the editorial process. It uses a completely anonymous peer review system for both, the author and the reviewer. This external evaluation process for scientific articles, also known as refereeing, is carried out by independent experts, who assess the merits and deficiencies of the manuscript. Their criteria are submitted to the editor, who will make a decision regarding whether or not to publish the manuscript; if deemed appropriate, their suggestions are forwarded to the author to improve the quality of the work. This process can be repeated as many times as necessary. Documents submitted by authors are considered confidential throughout the evaluation process. Only if the decision is made to publish the article will its content be communicated to third parties. Consequently, referees and editors must refrain from communicating any aspect of the work under their consideration to anyone outside the Editorial Committee.

Forms

Authors must explicitly declare any conflicts of interest, if any, or state that they do not have any. This must be stated in a letter, the template for which can be found on the journal's website: https://revistas.uclave.org/index.php/agora. Under no circumstances will so-called "editorial inbreeding" be accepted. This negative phenomenon occurs when a quarter or more of the contributions include a member of the Editorial Board among their co-authors.

The sections planned for the magazine are:

• Research originals
• Review
• Theoretical-methodological

Experience reports: papers of original observations, followed by analysis and discussion.

Essays: analysis and questioning of existing theoretical models. Includes the development of hypotheses for future research.

Review: commented texts on publications (preferably recently released), containing critical analysis, interpretation and conclusions.

Reflections: This session publishes original dissertations on current events in the social sciences and their relationship to the social being as a human being. It is based on creative action and thought with epistemological support.

 RULES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS

The journal will publish articles that have not been published in peer-reviewed journals by the author or any other individual, and that are not being considered for publication by another journal or scientific media outlet. The author must explicitly declare that they meet this requirement.

1. Structure

All articles must consist of the following sections:

• Title (Spanish, English and Portuguese).
• Summary (Spanish, English and Portuguese)
• Keywords (Spanish, English and Portuguese)
• Introduction
• Development (this will vary depending on whether it is an original research article or a review article: since it is an article, it must include results and discussion of results. The methodology may be outlined in the introduction)
• Conclusions (this is one of the significant segments of the manuscript, so the originality and innovative nature of what is presented there is essential)
• Bibliographic references: APA Version 7 Standards will be used.

The title of the article should be in 14-point type, without underlining, and in bold, centered (a version of the title must be added in English and Portuguese, or in alternate languages if the article is written in English or Portuguese). Subheadings should be highlighted in bold, without capital letters (only the first letter of the first word), and located in the left margin. Words that are to be highlighted should be in italics (never bold or underlined). Words in other languages should be italicized.

The abstract is informative, written in a single paragraph, should be written in an impersonal style, and should contain the objectives of the work, the methods used, and a brief description of the main results and conclusions. These aspects should be implicit in the paragraph itself, without demarcating the sections. It should not exceed 200 words. Three to five key words or phrases should be included to facilitate indexing of the work.

A note will be placed at the bottom of the page for each author indicated, as shown in the example:

The introduction will contain the approach and argumentative elements that lead the authors to focus on that topic of study and not another. Therefore, the intended contribution (the questions to be answered or hypotheses to be considered, where appropriate) must be clearly stated. Reference must be made to the theoretical elements discussed and the research methodology (in the case of articles). The research objective must be stated explicitly at the end of this section.

The development may adopt a flexible structure depending on the type of communication involved, as long as basic coherence guidelines are respected. These may include methods, discussion, and results, if applicable.

Conclusions should be derived from the work itself and should not repeat the results achieved, but rather be genuine elaborations that summarize what can be clarified as a result of the work performed. They should not be presented in bullet points or in bullet points.

Bibliographic references will be presented according to APA version 7. Only the authors referenced in the manuscript will be included in this list.

Each of the titles of the interior sections will be indicated in Times New Roman font, size 12 and bold.

Tables and Figures should have titles at the top, identifying their content (the initial of the title should be capitalized), in Times New Roman 12 and in bold, and should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals, following the order in which they appear in the article. At the end of the Table and/or Figure, always indicate the source, and if it is not the product of research, the bibliographic reference should also be indicated, Times New Roman 10, in italics. The texts within the figures and tables must be in the original language of the article, in Times New Roman 10. Figures should be small or medium, not large. A separate file must be submitted with the tables and figures, clearly indicating their identification and location.

Footnotes will be limited to a maximum of eight, and should be consecutively numbered with Arabic numerals and placed at the bottom of each page. The size and font of the footnotes will be Times New Roman, size 10, with 1.0 line spacing. Content footnotes should convey only a single idea and should not exceed five lines in length. A maximum of nine footnotes will be used for each article or essay.

2. Format and extension

Articles must be written in Word, and both tables and figures must be inserted at the appropriate points within the text. No more than five tables or five figures are allowed. Occasionally, if the work is approved, the editors may ask the author to submit figures or tables separately in a specific format. Papers must be limited to a maximum of 30 pages.

3. Authorship

All authors, to receive credit as such, must have contributed substantially to the following three aspects or categories within the research:

1. a) The conception and design of the study or the analysis and interpretation of data.
   b) The drafting of the article or its critical review, with significant contributions to its intellectual content. c) Approval of the final version to be published.

All authors are responsible for the integrity and quality of the article submitted and eventually published.

4. Declaration of the authors' contribution

Authors must explicitly state their contributions to the research at the end of their article, following the CRediT Taxonomy for scientific journals.

The authorship roles will be identified by indicating the name of each author and then the assigned roles.

Example:

Luana Pérez González: Conceptualization, Data curation, Visualization, Writing – original draft.

José Suárez Rodríguez: Formal analysis, Software, Validation, Writing – review and editing

Namely, each role is defined as follows:

• Conceptualization – Ideas; formulation or evolution of the overall objectives and goals of the research.
• Data curation – Management activities to annotate (produce metadata), cleanse data, and maintain research data (including software code, when necessary to interpret the data itself) for initial use and subsequent reuse.
• Formal analysis – Application of statistical, mathematical, computational or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize study data.
• Methodology – Development or design of the methodology; creation of models.
• Writing – reviewing and editing – Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work by members of the original research group, specifically critical review, commentary or revision – including pre- and post-publication stages.

6. Changes in authorship

The authors are responsible for correctly including all co-authors in the agreed order. This must be done during the submission of the original article. Any subsequent additions will not be accepted.

Failure to comply with these submission guidelines may result in the rejection of papers, as may evidence of plagiarism or self-plagiarism in manuscripts submitted for review.

All articles submitted to ÁGORA DE HETERODOXIAS are sent to external reviewers, whose opinion determines their publication. Likewise, each accepted work will undergo a style review before publication.

It is a condition for the publication of the article that the authors send, signed, a letter of transfer of rights of the article -according to the attached model- in favor of the Scientific Journal ÁGORA DE HETERODOXIAS
