Abstract

The most common crops in the state of Merida are potatoes, vegetables, coffee, cocoa, and bananas. Fertilizers and organic fertilizers are frequently used, but not always according to criteria based on soil analysis calibration with field experiments, which has led to the accumulation of high levels of available phosphorus and potassium in the soil. The objective of this study was to determine the behavior of available phosphorus and potassium levels in soil under potato crops in the state of Merida, from 2010 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2022 years. To handle 3,529 data, the average of the available P or K within each range of availability of both nutrients was calculated for each soil for all years. The analysis of the data showed a greater influence of fertilizer management in potatoes on the very high levels of P and K available in the soils, above the critical levels of these nutrients.
