Abstract

Peru is recognized as one of the centers of origin and diversity of peanut, harboring numerous accessions and local varieties. This richness highlights the importance of conducting morpho-agronomic characterization studies to identify the crop's productive and phenotypic potential. Therefore, five peanut accessions were evaluated morphoagronomically using ten descriptors. Descriptive analyses were performed, including ANOVA with mean comparisons using Tukey's test (p≤0.05) and, for non-parametric data, the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by multiple comparisons using Dunn's test with Holm adjustment (p≤0.05). Pearson correlation, principal component analysis, and hierarchical clustering analyses were also conducted. The MT accession showed higher pod and kernel yield per hectare, whereas CI95 had a greater number of pods per plant but fewer kernels per pod, in contrast to MT. MRC also stood out as the earliest maturing accession. These results indicate that the peanut accessions showed different expressions of descriptors of morphoagronomic interest.
