Abstract

The present work tries to apply a multivalent method for the construction of a global synthetic index of Sustainable Development, which adapts to the basic dimensions of sustainability (Institutional, Environmental, Economic and Social), allowing to establish the measurements of the variables in all its broad spectrum, using fuzzy logic to trap uncertainty in that field. For this, the contributions of the Synthetic Index of Sustainable Development of González, Martin are used; Fernández; (2004), to define 78 variables and grouped into 36 sub-indicators and concentrated on 13 indicators. The aggregation of the opinion of experts from the countries studied is carried out by means of expertization and counter-expertization, and the maximum and minimum level index is applied to determine the corresponding distances by pairs of countries compared. Finally, a fuzzy factual model is constructed, based on the contributions of Verdegay, Herrera, Kovacs(1992), in which the components of a synthetic index are collected, with intervention capabilities. In this study, the value of the sustainable development index for 15 countries of the European Union (EU) was obtained, reflecting the variability between the periods from January 2012 to September 2018.
