Peer Review Process

The journal Teorías, Enfoques y Aplicaciones en las Ciencias Sociales applies a double-blind peer review system, in accordance with international standards of academic quality and best practices in scholarly publishing.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to verify their relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with editorial guidelines, originality, and adherence to ethical principles in research and publication. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.

Manuscripts that pass this preliminary assessment are sent to at least two external peer reviewers, who are specialists in the relevant field. The review process is conducted under the double-blind modality, ensuring that the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential. In cases of significant divergence between reviewers’ reports, the manuscript may be evaluated by a third reviewer.

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and scientific relevance

  • Theoretical and methodological rigor

  • Internal coherence and clarity of presentation

  • Relevance and adequacy of bibliographic references

  • Contribution to knowledge in the field of social sciences

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial team will reach one of the following decisions:
a) acceptance,
b) acceptance subject to revisions,
c) resubmission for further review after substantial revisions, or
d) rejection.

Editorial decisions are communicated to the authors in a reasoned manner, together with the reviewers’ comments. Final acceptance is contingent upon the satisfactory incorporation of the required revisions.

Once accepted, the manuscript undergoes a final review for style, formatting, and standardization prior to publication.

The journal guarantees the confidentiality, impartiality, and transparency of the evaluation process, ensures the absence of conflicts of interest, and adheres strictly to ethical principles and best practices in scholarly communication.
