A procrastinação como sinal protetor do sistema de sobrevivência: uma mudança de paradigma

O artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa documental e experiencial voltada para propor uma releitura conceitual da procrastinação e de sua abordagem. O ponto de partida foi a pergunta: por que, se sei o que tenho que fazer, não faço? Dessa reflexão surgiu outra pergunta: e se a procrastinação não fosse o problema, mas apenas um sintoma? Mudar a perspectiva levou a revisar a literatura sob outro ângulo, buscando a origem das resistências e dos mecanismos de defesa. Percebeu-se então que o sistema nervoso, em modo de sobrevivência, responde não apenas a ameaças físicas, mas também à sensação de insegurança emocional. É ativado um freio protetor diante da tarefa, baseado na ideia - muitas vezes inconsciente - de que os recursos não são suficientes. Essa reação se expressa na forma de procrastinação. A partir dessa descoberta, propõe-se um modelo integrador e uma metodologia de intervenção que permitem compreender a procrastinação como um sinal protetor e transformá-la em uma resposta consciente.
