Journal history

Bioagro was founded in 1983 by the Faculty of Agronomy of the Universidad Centro Occidental (currently Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado) in the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela. It was published for two years with bi-annual editions before falling into a period of inactivity between 1985 and 1990. It restarted its editions in 1991 and since then it has maintained its regularity without interruption with a quarterly periodicity (three issues a year).

As of 2018 it changed its printed format to digital format. The collection of the printed material of the journal produced until that time is available in the libraries of universities and institutes with agronomic careers and official entities of agricultural research in Venezuela, as well as in universities and/or agricultural research institutes of all Latin American countries, the United States, Canada and Spain.
