Focus and scope

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología (Science and Technology Publications) is an open access scientific journal, peer-reviewed and indexed, published twice a year. It is published in the Dean of Sciences and Technology of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado (UCLA), Venezuela. It publishes original and unpublished works written in Spanish or English. The areas of disclosure are the exact sciences, earth sciences and engineering. It is a magazine aimed at academics, researchers and professionals. The journal includes articles reporting research results, applications, practice cases, and reviews. The opinions expressed in the published works are the sole responsibility of their authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Dean of Science and Technology, the Editor or the Editorial Committee.

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología  Since 2007, it has contributed to the dissemination of works in the areas of exact sciences, computer science, engineering, and technological sciences. Specifically, the dissemination topics considering the UNESCO International Nomenclature for the fields of Science and Technology, are the following: 11-Logic, 12-Mathematics, 21-Astronomy and Astrophysics, 22-Physics, 23-Chemistry, 25-Science Earth and Space and 33-Technological Sciences.

It is published twice a year, publishing two numbers per year: January-June and July-December. Works written in Spanish or English are received, under the modality of original research article, review article, reflection article, technical note, review or communication to the editor. The works must be sent to the email revistapcyt@ucla.edu.ve, complying with the regulations for their preparation and with the delivery procedure. The instructions for the authors and the description of the arbitration process are published on the website address of this journal.

In Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología only original and unpublished works are admitted, and these must not be simultaneously nominated for publication in other journals or editorial bodies. When the authors send their work to Publications in Science and Technology, they assign to the journal the publication and editing rights of its format for its extensive dissemination both in the printed and digital versions through libraries, scientific indexes, catalogs, etc. databases and registries to which the journal is subscribed. Each work is evaluated by at least two (2) expert peers in the area, under the double-blind modality. For this we request the collaboration of researchers from the institution, and external, from other national and/or international institutions.

We invite interested researchers, academics and professionals to contribute their work to be published in the journal or to send their comments on those already published.

Mission

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología is a Venezuelan scientific publication, refereed and indexed, published twice a year, committed to open access to scientific knowledge, conceived as a space for dissemination with relevant contributions in the areas of exact sciences, earth sciences, and engineering, as results of research and presented as original articles, reviews, technical notes, essays or reviews, contributing to the updating and academic queries of students, teachers, researchers, professionals, as well as people or organizations interested in said topics; preserving and disseminating the published content, as well as contributing to national and international scientific and academic discussion.

Objetives

1. Publish quality scientific articles in the areas of engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, and technological science.
2. Contribute to the preservation and visibility of scientific knowledge at a national and international level.
3. Promote a scientific culture of inclusion, collaboration, respect and ethics.

Relevance and contributions of the Journal

As a means of scientific dissemination of open access and free of charge for publication and reading, it promotes unrestricted access to all communities interested in the dissemination topics of this journal, publishing quality studies for research and education framed in the Objectives Sustainable Development, especially those related to energy, industrial processes, sustainable cities and efficient use of resources.

On the other hand, it contributes culturally to the dissemination and compliance with standards and good practices, human and ethical values ​​associated with scientific research within the framework of a scientific culture of inclusion, collaboration and respect.

Regarding the social, it aims to promote the relationship and interaction between the scientific community, interested in the topics of the journal, to obtain, through the published articles, relevant information, updated knowledge and contacts that enhance national and international scientific progress. with its positive impact on society.

Vision

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología is a recognized dissemination medium in its fields of dissemination, in academic and scientific fields, nationally and internationally, as a scientific research journal with high visibility and impact, registered in internationally recognized scientific indexes and databases.

Public

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología It is especially aimed at the national and international academic and scientific community. On the other hand, the section on Reviews is aimed at a broader audience, in this section scientific events, academic programs, academic books, interviews or presentation of the trajectory of renowned researchers-academicians in the areas of dissemination of this journal are described, as well as as well as other general topics related to national or international scientific-academic work.

Financing of the journal

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología It depends financially on the Academic Vice rectory of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado.

Digital Preservation Policy

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología performs the following actions:

It assigns a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), which is a persistent identifier, which is managed free of charge through the Research Gate and Zenodo services, this guarantees archiving and visibility on said platforms.

It is also complete and open access in different databases such as DIALNET, which guarantees identification and avoids location problems due to URL changes or the like.

It uses Open Journal Systems (OJS), which provides the PKP-PN (PKP-Preservation Network) tool and for this journal the respective Pluging is active. In this sense, with a view to their digital preservation, the articles of this journal are automatically archived in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), thus guaranteeing a permanent and secure archive in the weather.

In this way, the articles are progressively archived, thus guaranteeing that the stored digital information can remain and continue to be used in the future.

Open Access Policy

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología provides open access to its content, under the principle of making research available free of charge to the general public, thus supporting the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, therefore it declares that it adheres to the Open Access model, no subscription is required, registration or access fee to users or institutions. Users can freely read, download, copy, distribute, print and share the full texts immediately after publication. This journal meets the following conditions for this declaration:

- It is possible to access the contents published by this journal, freely and universally, at no cost to the reader, through the Internet or any other means;

- The author or copyright holder grants this journal the right to disseminate and distribute the content. This is managed by this journal through a communication that the authors address to the journal when applying for their work.

- The full version of the content has been deposited, in an appropriate electronic format, in a server and institutional repository of this university, which is committed to open access.

This journal demands not to make commercial use of the publications. For the partial or total reproduction of the published works or contents, it is required to recognize the intellectual rights of the authors and also to make reference to this journal.

This journal adheres to the international framework for open science policies and practices proposed in the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science where it states: "Scientific publications may be disseminated by publishers on open access online publishing platforms or deposited and made immediately available upon publication in open online repositories, managed and maintained by a university institution, academic society, public body or any other well-established non-profit organization dedicated to the common good and ensuring access open, unrestricted distribution, interoperability and long-term archiving".

Likewise, as it is peer-reviewed periodical scientific literature, this journal is committed to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), adapting to self-archiving strategies by depositing its articles in open electronic databases, and in addition to being accredited by DOAJ as an open access periodical publication.


No publication cost / no APC

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología declares that:

It promotes open access (Open Access), for which it does not charge any fee for published texts and neither for texts submitted for evaluation, review, publication or download. This journal rejects the Article Processing Charge (APC) business model. Therefore:

- Readers do not pay fees to access the articles in this magazine.

- Authors do not pay APC (article processing charge) publication fees. There is no charge for receiving article submissions, nor for processing. In this sense, the publication of articles is done free of charge for the authors.


Section Policy

Types of manuscripts that are received and published:
 
Original research article: Document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects. Contains introduction, methodology, results and conclusions. Maximum length of twenty letter-size pages. It is subjected to peer review, under the double-blind modality.
 
Review article: Document where the results of other published research on a field of science or technology are analysed, systematized and integrated, in order to account for the advances, trends or development patterns of the studies reviewed, providing a status of art on the subject, and future prospects. You must submit a bibliographic review of at least 30 references, its maximum length is twenty letter-size pages. It is subjected to peer review, under the double-blind modality. It is recommended to review the work of Lluis Codina (2018). Systematized reviews for academic papers · Concepts, phases and bibliography.
 
Technical report: Document that presents the results obtained from the application to a particular situation of specific techniques, methods or procedures that are widely known and/or used. Includes an annotated review of the literature on analogous cases. Its length should not exceed twenty letter-size pages. Its structure is the same as an original research paper. It is subjected to peer review, under the double-blind modality.
 
Scientific essay: Manuscript that describes or analyzes a fact, phenomenon, work or situation, issuing a balanced judgment, supported by a proper literature review. Its length is up to twenty letter-size pages. It is subjected to peer review, under the double-blind modality.
 
Review: Document that describes upcoming or recent scientific events, books, university academic programs, research groups or relevant scientific facts related to the exact sciences, computing, engineering or technological sciences. This type of work is not submitted to arbitration by external peers, it is reviewed and approved by the Editorial Committee. Its length is up to 20 letter-size pages.
 
Letters to the Editor: Document that expresses critical, analytical or interpretive positions on the documents published in the journal, and constitutes an important contribution to the discussion of the subject by the reference scientific community. Length of up to five letter-size pages.

Publication Frequency

Publicaciones en Ciencias y Tecnología It is published in continuous mode, every six months, corresponding to the two editions identified as numbers 1 and 2, these making up the annual volume. The first number of each volume corresponds to the months January-June and the second number to July-December.
