Aplicaciones educativas para la mejora del conocimiento y autocuidado en personas con diabetes tipo 2: revisión sistemática

Introducción: La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) constituye un problema de salud pública con prevalencia y mortalidad creciente en Ecuador y en el mundo. Las aplicaciones móviles surgen como herramientas innovadoras para mejorar el conocimiento y las prácticas de autocuidado en estas personas. Objetivo: Explorar y sintetizar la evidencia científica disponible sobre el uso de aplicaciones móviles educativas en adultos con DM2, identificando su impacto en el conocimiento de la enfermedad, las prácticas de autocuidado, las barreras y facilitadores para su uso, así como la experiencia de los usuarios en contextos comunitarios y domiciliarios. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión sistemática integrativa siguiendo la guía PRISMA 2020. La búsqueda se efectuó en PubMed, Scopus y Google Scholar, considerando estudios originales publicados entre 2015 y 2025, en inglés y español. Se incluyeron investigaciones cuantitativas, cualitativas y mixtas que evaluaron aplicaciones con componentes educativos. La calidad y nivel de la evidencia se valoraron con el instrumento JHNEBP. Resultados: Se analizaron 39 estudios con predominio de diseños observacionales y ensayos clínicos aleatorizados. En la mayoría reportó mejoras en la alfabetización en salud, adherencia al tratamiento, empoderamiento y autoeficacia de los pacientes. Las barreras fueron la brecha digital, problemas de usabilidad y preocupaciones por privacidad. Entre los facilitadores están la personalización, la facilidad de uso y el apoyo social y profesional. La experiencia de uso fue generalmente positiva cuando las aplicaciones ofrecieron contenidos claros, retroalimentación y acompañamiento clínico. Conclusiones: Las aplicaciones móviles educativas constituyen herramientas eficaces para mejorar el conocimiento y las prácticas de autocuidado en DM2, aunque persisten desafíos relacionados con la equidad digital y la sostenibilidad de sus efectos en el tiempo. La enfermería familiar y comunitaria juega un papel clave en su implementación y acompañamiento
