Malária na gravidez: uma revisão sistemática.

Resumo

Objetivo: Atualizar e analisar os aspectos epidemiológicos, os fatores de risco e a carga da doença em mulheres grávidas em áreas endémicas de malária em todo o mundo. Métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura, tomando como período de estudo janeiro de 2018 - abril de 2024, e cumprindo as fases de identificação de 154 documentos, triagem com critérios de inclusão e exclusão, procedendo à seleção de 31 artigos caracterizados de acordo com o ano de publicação, sector da população estudada e área técnica do estudo. Resultados: A assistência à grávida, enquanto população vulnerável com esta doença, requer respostas integradas com intervenção terapêutica preventiva intermitente e, para reduzir a sua gravidade e sequelas, é fundamental o diagnóstico e tratamento atempados com terapêuticas combinadas.

Conclusões: É evidente que a malária na gravidez representa um desafio complexo e multifacetado, com diferentes manifestações clínicas e mecanismos subjacentes em todo o espetro de endemicidade mundial; a relevância e o impacto social que esta doença produz, especialmente em mulheres grávidas e crianças com menos de 5 anos de idade, exige a definição de algumas prioridades para o desenvolvimento de investigação futura que nos permita abordar a redução desta doença neste sector vulnerável.
