Editorial Policy

COMPENDIUM is a peer-reviewed, indexed, of open access and free of charge Journal of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado It is a biannual publication in the field of social sciences. It is open to all national and foreign researchers. It is published in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.

COMPENDIUM is committed to the free, immediate and unrestricted distribution of academic and scientific materials, in favor of the promotion of intellectual conversation and the joint search for knowledge.

In accordance with the editorial policy of the journal, the reviews are done in a double-blind trial by specialized peer reviewers in the area, for which the author of the work does not know who has reviewed it and the reviewers do not know of the author's name.

For reviews of the articles in their diverse modalities, it is used both institutional reviewers and / or others from national and international universities.

The reviewers or arbitrators will have an evaluating or arbitration form in which the criteria and evaluations are specified according to the respective evaluation norms. In such forms, a general appreciation of the work is also requested based on aspects such as: added value of the article in the relevant scientific field and contribution to future research.

Paired Editing

The Committee Editor of Compendium selects at least two arbitrators with a level of instruction equal to that of the highest level of education attained by the author or authors and the path of the investigation recognizes the thematic area corresponding to the contribution received.

Investigations

Summary

Should contain the main objective, a methodological summary, main outcomes, and main conclusions.

Introduction

Should contain a summary of contextualization, a complete exposition of the objectives and methodology and of the parts composing the development of the article.

Development of the Work

Composed of three parts: 1. The theoretical foundation and empirical character that the article is based upon; 2. The methodology, and 3. The results and their discussion.

Conclusions

Corresponds to the development and context of the article.

Bibliography

Should be backed scientifically, with regard to credibility, validity, and relevant.

Visual Aids: tables, charts, images, and footnotes

Tables, charts, and images should be self-explanatory and be pertinent. If footnotes are included, they should be used in moderation and be pertinent.

 

Essays

Introduction

Should contain a summary of contextualization, the objectives and the parts composing the essay.

Dissertation

Coherence and clarity in the presentation and discussion of the arguments.

Conclusions

Corresponds to the context and previous dissertations.

Bibliography

Should be backed scientifically, with regard to credibility, validity, and relevant.

Visual Aids: tables, charts, images, and footnotes

Documents and reviews of academic writings specialized in social studies: relevance, pertinence, and connection to social studies, academic character, path of investigation of the author and occasion.

Declaration of Ethics and Professional Negligence

The declaration of ethics and professional negligence of the journal is intended to avoid malpractice, guaranteeing transparency and honesty in the evaluation process and corresponding publication. In this context, the following criteria are considered:

  • The authors are urged to guarantee that the authorship includes only those that have contributed academically to the development of the work: conceptual development, compilation, analysis and interpretation of data, the writing and editing of the work itself, and approval of the final version. It is recommended to avoid judgement based on opinion, and to maintain a partial position without preexisting bias or use of advertising that exaggerates the benefits of the products/techniques/methods mentioned in the work.
  • As of No. 30 (2013) the journal requires the author or authors to send a statement of originality of the work and unpublished nature of the contributions. Additionally, the author or authors must explicitly state that the work has not been sent to another journal for evaluation or possible publication.
  • The Director, Committee Editor, and other members of the Editorial Board and Board of Scientific Advisement promise to uphold high moral standards in the management and editing of the journal and to fulfill the necessary procedures to, when possible, detect any case of professional negligence committed by the authors or the arbitrators. Additionally, they pledge to commit to confidentiality criteria regarding information about the authors, evaluators, results of the evaluations, and other information related to the administration of the journal.
  • The Committee Editor will submit an annual report of administration to the Dean of Administration and Accounting in order to guarantee transparency in the management of financial support and funds received. The aforementioned report will include a statement of the funds received (funding, donations, equipment and personnel resources, other income, etc.).
  • The arbitrators selected guarantee an exhaustive review of the entire work in order to detect omissions, plagiarism, falsification of data, and duplication of past publications. Furthermore, it is recommended to carry out the review and/or evaluation in accordance to the criteria required in the guidelines of the journal in an objective manner.
