Revisión crítica de los avances en las teorías de Hofstede sobre la adaptabilidad de la cultura organizacional

Abstract

En el contexto empresarial globalizado, la adaptabilidad organizacional es crucial para la competitividad. Este estudio se propone evaluar críticamente la vigencia y eficacia del marco de dimensiones culturales de Hofstede para fomentar dicha adaptabilidad, considerando su persistente popularidad frente a las sustanciales críticas metodológicas. Mediante una revisión sistemática de literatura publicada entre 2010 y 2024, siguiendo las guías PRISMA, se analizaron investigaciones empíricas que aplican el marco en contextos organizacionales. Los resultados revelan que su valor principal no reside en su capacidad predictiva, sino en su utilidad como plataforma para el diálogo intercultural reflexivo y la identificación de fuentes de fricción. Se concluye que una aplicación crítica y contextualizada, que reconozca sus limitaciones y lo complemente con análisis organizacionales específicos, puede potenciar la adaptabilidad, mientras que una aplicación rígida genera estereotipos contraproducentes. La adaptabilidad óptima emerge así de utilizar las dimensiones como herramienta heurística, no como determinante cultural.
