Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The theme is adjusted to the areas of publication.
    Paper has not been previously published or submitted to consideration to any other journal (or any other explanation on the commentaries to the editor)
    Format file: OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF o WordPerfect.
    As long as possible URL must be provided in references
  • Text font: Times New Roman, 12 and 1,5 spaced. The text will be justified; italics are used instead of underlining (except in URLs); and all the illustrations, figures and tables are properly placed in the text, instead of at the end.

NORMS OF PRESENTATION OF WORK
    TO PUBLISH IN THE JOURNAL
          ÁGORA DE HETERODOXIAS

Ágora de Heterodoxias is a scientific digital journal open to every foreign or domestic researcher. In this informative journal issued in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, two different languages are used:  English, Spanish or Portuguese.  One of its purposes consists of free communication of all high-quality research for all audiences.
Deadlines are due in January and July.  Hence, every issue publishes those articles that have been previously evaluated and approved with a month of anticipation.
These are the publishing standards:

Originality and anonymity

  1. Articles must be original, unpublished and cannot be simultaneously sent to other publisher. In order to guarantee impartiality in the selection process, articles´authors as well as reviewers names will remain anonymous.
  2. Due to the principle of originality and anonymity, papers must be handed in as follows:

One digital file with:  title, name and last name of the authors.  For each author:

  • Nationality
  • Academic profile (degrees and titles)
  • Institution(s) he/she is currently attached
  • Number of ORCID
  • Contacts: e-mail, telephone, fax

One second digital file: the whole paper with a 250-word-abstract at the beginning (10 font).  The abstract must be written in the original language (same as article) and two more versions (English/Portuguese or Spanish/Portuguese).  Abstract must include no less than 5 key words or concepts.
One third digital file:  a signed-up authorship letter by which the author declares the article originality (see an example annexed)

Types of publications

  1. Original articles from researches: contributions that divulge outcomes of unpublished researches.
  2. Up-to-date articles: communicative and analytical communications based on recent literature related to a general situation that deal with the topic of the article.
  3. Experiential papers: works related to original observations, followed by analysis and discussion.
  4. Essays: analysis and inquiries about frameworks.  It includes a hypothesis development for future researches.
  5. Recension of a work: commented texts on recent publications (recent ones preferably).  It contains critical analysis, interpretation and conclusions.

Extension and format

  1. Articles can be written either in Spanish, Portuguese or English.
  2. Extension could be either 30 quartiles or sheets maximum or a minimum of 20. Texts must be written in word (2003-2007 compatible), in a size A4-page. Three 250-word abstracts must be included (Spanish/Portuguese and English) with key words.
  3. Format must include:
    • Font: Times New Roman, 12. Line spacing of 1,5 and text must be justified.
    • Paper´s title must be capitalized and bold (size 14), no underline. It must be centered (an English and Portuguese version must be provided or in alternative languages in case the article is written in English or Portuguese).  In case the article has subtitles, they must be highlighted in bold, no capital letters (only the first letter of each word) and justified to the left margin.  Words that need to be highlightened must be in italics (no underline nor bold).  Foreign words must go italicized too.
    • Titles in charts and images must be placed on top, giving information on their content. First word of the title must be capitalized, size 12, in Time New Roman, bold.  Charts must be numbered using the Arabic standard, following the order as they are shown in the article.  At the end of the chart (if this is not the outcome of a research), the reference must be provided in Times New Roman, size 10 italics.  Text within charts and images must be in original language, same as the article, size 10 Times New Roman.  Images must be small or medium size, but never large.  If necessary, a separate file with the images and charts must be handed-in clearly identified.
    • Footnotes must be numbered consecutively using the Arabic standard and placed at the end of each page. Font must be Times New Roman, size 10, single space.  Footnotes should not exceed 5 lines and a maximum of 9 per chapter/essay would be acceptable.

 

 

Review Articles

They must be original, and cannot be submitted simultaneously to another publication. In order to guarantee impartiality in the selection process of the articles, the anonymity of the authors and also of the evaluators will be maintained.

Reflections

This session publishes original dissertations on current events in the social sciences and their relationship with the social being as a human being. It is based on action and creative thinking with epistemological support.

Privacy Statement

Personal information given by authors to the editorial board of the journal -such as addresses and telephone numbers- are private and not subject to be communicated and/or shared by this journal.  Whereas, in order to keep communication among readers and authors,  e-mails are public if the later so decide.
