Abstract

Introduction: Developmental coordination disorder, or developmental dyspraxia, is a condition characterized by movement difficulties. It is commonly identified at an early age, although it often persists into adolescence and adulthood. This presents as a cause of vulnerability to the increase in non-communicable diseases. Objective: To argue that developmental dyspraxia is a cause of early risk for the prevention of non-communicable diseases, integrating both the motor dimension and mental health in its treatment. Development: Dyspraxia and its associated movement difficulties lead to reduced participation in sports activities by those who suffer from it, generating a series of physical, social, and emotional difficulties, which require systematic action from the public health sector, seeking comprehensive improvement measures. Conclusions: Dyspraxia is a complex pathology that affects people in a multidimensional way. Therefore, it must be addressed through comprehensive programs from an early age, through public and educational policy actions that are focused at the well-being of future generations.
