Uso de trampa de agua no estéril en pacientes con traumatismo torácico

El manejo adecuado de la trampa de agua en el traumatismo torácico para el drenaje pleural es fundamental. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la utilidad del uso de trampa de agua no estéril en el drenaje pleural en los pacientes con trauma torácico del Servicio de Cirugía de Tórax del Servicio Autónomo Hospital Universitario de Maracaibo. Se estudiaron 56 pacientes de ambos sexos con edades comprendidas entre 18 y 85 años con diagnóstico de traumatismo torácico, siendo la principal complicación el hemotórax y neumotórax y con menor frecuencia el hemoneumotórax y hernia diafrágmica. Solo 2 pacientes (3,6 %) presentaron infección del sitio de inserción, ninguno de los cuales recibió antibiótico. Se concluye que en pacientes con trauma torácico pueden utilizarse de forma segura trampas de agua no estériles recomendando que dichos pacientes reciban antibioticoterapia con cefalosporinas
