Abstract

This article addresses the humanization of nursing management as a concept that merges ethical values, principles of well-being, and the integral development of the professional. It is a strategic and ethical imperative that seeks the sustainability of the health system and the improvement of care quality, in addition to fostering the well-being and resilience of professionals in a demanding work environment.  The objective is to analyze this humanization, demonstrating how, by centering organizational decisions on the nursing professional (and, therefore, on the patient), it becomes an essential approach. Methodology A conceptual and theoretical review of relevant literature in health management, nursing, care ethics, and work psychology was conducted. The principles of humanized management were adapted and synthesized for the healthcare environment, paying special attention to the integration of professional-centrism and nursing leadership. Results: Fundamental pillars of humanized nursing management were identified: transformational and empathetic leadership, effective and transparent communication, work-life balance and integral well-being policies, a system of continuous recognition and professional development, and adherence to the ethics of care. Professional-centrism permeates these pillars, valuing the autonomy, experience, and empowerment of the nurse, which is crucial for superior care quality and job satisfaction. Conclusions: The humanization of nursing management, driven by authentic leadership and a professional-centric approach, is an imperative need to guarantee the well-being and resilience of professionals, the sustained improvement of care quality, and the building of a healthy work environment. This strategy is essential for building a resilient, efficient, ethical, and truly person-centered health system
