Sistemas de saúde na América Latina e a resposta sanitária à pandemia da COVID-19: Uma reflexão crítica

O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar as diferentes respostas dos países à situação emergente e refletir sobre o impacto no sistema de saúde a partir das opções adotadas pelos países latino-americanos. Entre os principais achados obtidos, destacam-se a análise dos aspectos dos sistemas de saúde, das políticas públicas e da saúde pública, para posteriormente identificar as dificuldades desse sistema, as medidas adotadas pelas nações, as estratégias de vacinação e como elas impactaram as ondas epidêmicas subsequentes com variantes da COVID-19, bem como os serviços de saúde prestados àqueles que sobreviveram à infecção, mas apresentaram sequelas agudas ou crônicas. Conclui-se que, para os problemas de saúde pública que surgiram em todo o mundo, é necessário iniciar um processo de solução a partir da base de cada nação, visto que certas semelhanças e diferenças foram evidentes entre os diferentes sistemas de saúde da América Latina no que diz respeito à resposta sanitária à pandemia da COVID-19.
