Peer Review Process

In Mayéutica, Revista Científica de Humanidades y Artes  the revision of the manuscripts is carried out in the following phases: reception, admission, arbitration and closing of the process.

1st PHASE- RECEPTION. Made by the Editorial Board in two steps:

It is verified if the theme of the manuscript adjusts to the nature and editorial line of the journal. Otherwise, the reasons for rejection are notified to the author.

Compliance with the journal's standards is verified and if incompatibilities are found, the author is notified so that they can make the necessary adjustments.

2nd PHASE- ADMISSION. Made by the Editorial Board:

Once the previous steps have been fulfilled, the work is admitted for arbitration. The Editorial Board appoints an evaluator or arbitrator for the manuscript. These evaluators may be part of the teaching and research staff of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado or be attached to other national or international universities or academic-scientific institutions. The Editorial Board sends the evaluators the work in blind format and the evaluation form.

3rd PHASE- ARBITRATION- Carried out by the evaluators or referees:

The manuscript is peer-reviewed by specialists in the area. The evaluation is carried out under the double-blind modality. Mayéutica scientific journal of humanities and arts preserves the confidentiality of the evaluation process. The referees review the work considering the criteria of originality, relevance, timeliness, contributions, and scientific rigor.

PHASE 4- CLOSURE. Made by the Editorial Board:

In this last phase, the decision to accept or reject the arbitration manuscript is issued, based on the result of the evaluation. If there is a consensus or majority regarding the verdict of rejection, the authors are informed by sending them a report with the reasons for rejecting the manuscript.

If the verdict refers to observations of improvements, a consolidated report is prepared and said results are communicated to the authors, to be considered in the preparation of the new version of the manuscript. Once the improved version has been received and after confirmation by the Editorial Board and the referees, the acceptance of the work is communicated to the authors and the corresponding certificate of acceptance of publication is issued, in which the Year, Volume and Number are indicated. in which it will be included.

Decision

  1. Publishable without corrections: The manuscript does not require modifications of form or content for its publication.
  2. Requires minor corrections: The manuscript requires some modifications.
  3. Requires major corrections and review again: The manuscript presents substantive observations that must be addressed by the authors. Subsequently, it must be evaluated again by the referees.

4. Not Publishable: The work is not publishable. It presents significant observations that would merit redoing the work. The work will not be evaluated again.
