The Corporation for Applied Intercultural Studies – Intercultura. Colombia; The International Network of Researchers in Festival, Nation, and Culture Studies (REDRIEF); the Colombian Academy of History; Mayéutica, revista científica de humanidades y Artes of the Decanato de Humanidades y Artes of Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado, Venezuela; L'AMAP (Amitié des Peuples du monde) based in Paris, France; The Historical Archive of Barranquilla attached to the District Mayor's Office of Barranquilla; invite academic researchers, managers, teachers, students, experts in festive culture practices, and the general public to participate in the 8th International Meeting on Studies of Festivals, Nation, and Culture, to be held in the Colombian city of Barranquilla on October 28, 29, and 30, 2026. The 8th International Meeting will feature academic researchers from various countries in the Americas and regions of Colombia, as well as artistic performances of festive theater, dance, music, and festive events.

Vol. 14 No. 1 (2026): Mayéutica Revista Científica de Humanidades y Artes

This is volume 14, number 1 (January–June 2026) of Mayéutica Revista Científica de Humanidades y Artes,, a publication of the Decanato de Humanidades y Artes at the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado, Venezuela. This edition features contributions from Paolo Arévalo Ortiz, Sara Abigail Bedón Monge, and María Cristina Matehu Bassante (Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi, Ecuador); Leopoldo Tillería Aqueveque (Universidad Bernardo O'Higgins, Chile); and Leopoldo Márquez Velasco (Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado). In the Scientific and Cultural Information section, we publish articles by Sergio Rafael Figallo Calzadilla (Centro Integral de Artes de Madrid) and Miguel Nucete Hübner, former president of the Fundación para el Desarrollo de la Región Centroccidental de Venezuela (Fudeco). In Gallery, we present some images about Venezuelan cinema, marking the 130th anniversary of the arrival of the first cinematograph (vitascope) in Venezuela. On the cover, a scene from La Venus de Nácar (1932), the first sound film produced in the country.

It is edited by the Decanato Experimental de Humanidades y Artes of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado, and is conceived as a space to consolidate the scientific humanistic character of the University through the registration and dissemination of knowledge generated in the ways of the evolution of thought and action of each one of the four programs that make up the Deanery: Artes Plásticas, Música, Psicología y Desarrollo Humano. It created at 2013.
